Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, and the choices you have.
1. What we collect
Account: name, email (not for guests), profile photo, the gender you chose, and, for email accounts, a securely hashed password.
Activity: coins, streaks, follows, likes, reports you send or receive, and your approximate country detected from your time zone.
Content you choose to share: stories, video notes, Snaps and your profile photo.
Snaps: when someone takes a Snap with you during a call, your device sends one photo from your own camera. It is kept privately on our server until you allow it (then it is posted next to theirs) or decline it (then it is deleted). If you don't answer within 6 hours, it is deleted.
Guests: to keep the free guest pass fair, we store a random ID created by your browser (one guest pass per device) and briefly count guest sign-ups per IP address (at most 3 a day).
Usage statistics: we count visits, pages and a few actions (such as starting a chat) with our own self-hosted Umami analytics. It uses no cookies, does not track you across other sites and stores no IP addresses or personal profiles.
2. Signing in with Google
If you choose Google, Google tells us your name, email address and profile photo. We use them only to create and run your LemurHop account, show your name and photo to people you talk to, and send you account emails such as sign-in codes.
We never get your Google password, contacts, files or anything else from your Google account, and we do not sell or share this data or use it for advertising. You can disconnect LemurHop at any time in your Google account settings; deleting your LemurHop account deletes this data.
3. What we do not collect
We do not record your calls. Video and audio go directly between devices whenever possible. Chat messages are not stored and disappear from the screen after a few seconds.
4. Safety checks
To keep nudity out of random chats, your device checks the video in a call (yours and the other person's) for nudity itself; the video is not sent to us for this. When the check, or a report, points to a broken rule, a few still frames of that moment are sent to our server so that our system and our moderators can confirm it.
These frames are encrypted, can only be opened by our moderators, and are deleted after 30 days, unless they are needed for an open review, an appeal or a legal obligation.
5. Why we use it
To match you with people, run filters, games, Snaps and streaks, keep the community safe (reports, safety checks and bans), and fix problems.
6. Who can see what
People you talk to see your name, photo and camera. Friends also see your stories and online status. Your email is never shown to other users.
Snaps are public by default. With a private account only your friends see them and your followers. Whom you follow is shown only if you turn on "Show who I follow".
7. Services we use
We use a few trusted providers only to run the service: our servers (Oracle Cloud), our domain, DNS and call connection relay (Cloudflare), and sending emails such as sign-in codes (Brevo). Payments are handled by our payment provider on its own page. They may process data only on our behalf, not for their own purposes.
8. How long we keep it
Stories: 24 hours. Video notes: 7 days. Snaps: until you or the other person deletes them; an unanswered Snap photo: 6 hours. Safety-check frames: 30 days (see above). Unused guest accounts: 7 days. Your account data: until you delete your account.
9. Cookies and storage on your device
We use only what the service needs to work, so we don't show a cookie banner. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Cookies: one sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, and a short-lived one (10 minutes) while you sign in with Google.
Storage in your browser: your sign-in token, your language, your light or dark theme, your device choices (camera, microphone, speaker) and the guest ID mentioned above.
Visit statistics come from our own Umami analytics, which uses no cookies. Watch Together plays YouTube in its privacy-enhanced (no-cookie) mode. When you buy coins, the payment page belongs to our payment provider and follows its own policy.
10. Security
Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, safety-check frames are encrypted at rest, and access to data is limited to what the service needs.
11. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account at any time by writing to support@lemurhop.com.
12. Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we will tell you in the app.
