Staying safe in video chat: 7 simple rules
Have fun and stay in control. These habits protect you on any video app.
1. Keep personal details private
Do not share your full name, address, school, workplace, phone number or passwords. Nice people will not ask for them.
2. Watch your background
Letters, windows with a view of your street, uniforms and photos can reveal more than you think. A plain wall is the safest background.
3. You can leave at any moment
If something feels wrong, press Next or stop. You never owe anyone a conversation.
4. Report, then move on
Use the flag on the other person's camera for nudity, harassment or spam. When several people report the same account within an hour, it is blocked automatically.
5. Never send money or codes
Requests for money, gift cards, crypto or verification codes are always scams — report them.
6. Remember screens can be recorded
LemurHop does not record calls, but the other person's device might. Do not show anything you would not want saved.
7. 18+ only
LemurHop is for adults. If you meet someone who looks underage, report them.
